The Christian holy day of Pentecost, which is celebrated fifty days after Easter Sunday, commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ while they were in Jerusalem celebrating the Spring Festival, Feast of Weeks, Shavout as described in the Acts of the Apostles (Acts 2:1–31).
Today as Believers in Yahweh we celebrate Pentecost.
The apostles were celebrating Shavout when the Holy Spirit descended on them. People passing by at first thought that they must be drunk, but the apostle Peter told the crowd that the apostles were full of the Holy Spirit.
This fullness was evidenced and still today by the speaking in tongues.
God’s power is in us when we are filled with The Holy Spirit & speak in tongues.
What does that mean to you? Living in the Power of the Holy Spirit means freedom, exhilaration, fulfillment. Often we don’t immerse ourselves into the great possibilities available by living in the POWER of the Holy Spirit.
Do you seem powerless when you pray, when you are ‘trying’ to believe for something? Know that it is The Holy Spirit in you that gives you power to change your life. It is the Holy Spirit’s job to produce Christ-like character in you. Only the Holy Spirit has the power to make the changes God wants to make in our lives. Philippians 2:13 says, God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.
It pleases Him for us to take our God given inheritance.
When I was believing for healing, it was the Power of The Holy Spirit living in me, the speaking in tongues, that produced the power to believe and receive healing.
But, first we must be Born again, by receiving Jesus Christ as Our Lord & Savior.
When we have this power, we can move every mountain in our lives. Sickness, disease, depression, etc. We can heal the sick, raise the dead and open blind eyes.
Christians believe that baptism in the Holy Spirit is a second step after the Holy Baptism with Water, through which the believer, through the laying on of hands and the prayer receives the gift of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues.
What a beautiful wonderful, gift from Our Lord.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be My witnesses, telling people about Me everywhere – in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. – Acts 1:8
