Romans 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in. (the fullness ‘Jesus’ has come.)
Is Our God, a God of MYSTERY?
When you don’t understand the things of this world, when you don’t see the results you want, do you blame God? Do you go to that place of making GOD a Mystery? It is easy to use that as an excuse for our lack of understanding? It’s easier to blame GOD, than look to our own unbelief or misunderstanding.
I hear it often, “God is MYSTERIOUS’ or “You never KNOW what GOD is going to do.” “HE is God of MYSTERY!”
“God Works in Mysterious Ways.”
Question: “What does it mean that God works in mysterious ways?”
God works in ways that are often deemed “mysterious”—that is to say, God’s methods often leave some people bewildered. Why would God tell Joshua and the children of Israel to march around the city of Jericho for a week (Joshua 6:1–4)?
What good could possibly come from Paul and Silas being arrested and beaten without cause (Acts 16:22–24)? Why would God allow Joni Eareckson, a talented vivacious girl of seventeen, to break her neck in a diving accident and spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair? (note: GOD did not allow or cause these things to happen!)
People often add: “God turned situations, problem & life, completely upside down—and He does it in the most unexpected, astonishing, and inexplicable ways.” = This is a man statement to help people deal with an unpleasant situation or a situation or challenge they do not understand.
The life of Joseph is a good example of the mysterious way God sometimes worked before the New Covenant. (Genesis 37:1—50:26). InGenesis 50:20, Joseph says to his brothers, “As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.” In this statement Joseph summarizes the events of his life, beginning with the evil his brothers did to him and ending with his recognition that it was all part of God’s beneficent plan to rescue His covenant people (Genesis 15:13–14).
There was a famine in Canaan where Abraham’s descendants, the Hebrew people, had settled (Genesis 43:1), so Joseph brought all of them out of Canaan and into Egypt (Genesis 46:26–27). Joseph was able to provide food for them all because he had become governor of Egypt and was in charge of buying and selling food (Genesis 42:6). (Again Note: This is before Jesus and our new covenant with Him)
Now lets look at what God says about Himself being a ‘Mystery.’
Ephesians 1:9– Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
Ephesians 1:18-20 – I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms,
Luke 8:10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.
Ephesians 3:9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
Romans 16: 25 – 27 – Now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ, in keeping with the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, 26 but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all the Gentiles might come to the obedience that comes from[f] faith— 27 to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen.
God now tells us that the Mystery has now been revealed to us through His Word. It is through the Holy Spirit that we can understand the Word and all the mysteries are revealed.
Colossians 1:27 – To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
Colossians 2:2 – My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ,
1 Timothy 3:16 – Beyond all question, the mystery from which true godliness springs is great: He appeared in the flesh, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory. ‘BOOM’ – Mystery is revealed.
Here is what the word thinks of that.
We credit the mystery of God to sickness and someones death, to healing and miracles, to accidents, disasters and victory. We absolutely have a God that is sovereign in that He is the Almighty, most High God worthy of all our praise. But stop praising Him for the things of Satan the things of evil people and this world. He is the God of Grace, forgiveness, love, health, prosperity, peace. joy, healing, greatness, power, authority and so much more. And He (Jesus) said He was going away and seated at the right hand of God. He left us the power and authority as believers in HIM. As a believer I have God’s power living inside of me.
NO where in scripture since God sent His Son does it say, He is mysterious, works in mysterious ways or causes sickness and disease or heals Connie, Susie, Sally and Frank but not you or someone else…. As believers He is asking us to BELIEVE.
The mystery of God is mentioned in 22 different verses of the Bible. The mystery started before the world was created.
Paul says “we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, [even] the hidden [wisdom], which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known [it], they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” (1 Cor 2:7-8)
Mark 4:11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:
. Get to know Jesus who reveals all things. Who provides us the wisdom of His kingdom, says we have ‘the mind of Christ.” He tells us He has revealed the mysteries to us. Look in HIS Word to learn and grow in your understanding. Take your inheritance as a believer. The wisdom to know the mysteries. The power to raise the dead and heal the sick. The authority to move mountains. What an amazing God who lives in each of us as believers and trusts us to use HIS power and authority to heal the sick, raise the dead and open blind eyes.
HE IS NO LONGER A MYSTERIOUS GOD WHEN YOU HAVE HIM AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR, WHEN YOU HAVE HIS HOLY SPIRIT LIVING AND LEADING AND GUIDING YOU.
1 Corinthians 2:6-10 – 6 We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. 8 None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.9 However, as it is written:
“What no eye has seen,
what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived”[b]—
the things God has prepared for those who love him—
10 these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit
Ephesians 3: 3, 6, – 6:19 –
Ephesians 3:8-10 “To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places…
“Matthew 13:10-11…the disciples came and said to Him, ‘Why do You speak to them in parables?’
He answered and said to them, ‘Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.”
