Wolves in sheep’s clothing – You cannot trust them.
But don’t I look cute? “You can trust me, you can believe me, come on get closer!”
When INTEGRITY seems to be lacking in someone, we often turn the other way and give second, third, 20 chances and ‘grace’. Especially for the Pastor, leader, Christian or boss. I just read an article by a Pastor that I highly respect, who walks in integrity and shares the truth of God’s Word. I learned through his article that he left a position some time in his life because the leader continued to lack integrity and lied. I do not know how often that occurred but knowing this person I am sure he walked in grace many times before having to resign.
I agree that we should walk in grace!
I find especially that when a leader is in a Christian organization or position & ‘continues’ to lie that it paints a picture for non believers about Jesus and Christians that speaks of a lack of integrity, truth and honesty, and it offends me highly and makes me sad! My name is also, now associated with them and their lies. I no longer can trust that person and relationship is lost. Even if no one else knows they are telling less than truths (= LYING) – I still know, and so does my Jesus. When the world see’s this lack of integrity, they are turned off even more by ‘Christians’ and ‘Christianity.’ I don’t blame them. Who would want any part of that? You look no different from the world, or perhaps even worse.
I worked for an organization where the leader continued to lie. Lied to the community, volunteers and staff. I shared with this leader that their lack of truthfulness was an issue which was then followed by bodily threats and my position being threatened. I decided to finally leave this organization. I felt like God had asked me to stay and fight for a while and then HE released me. Though I think I stayed longer than I should have. Jesus is much more important to me than a position I really loved, with a leader that continually lied. Trust & Integrity are important to our LORD. My words and the words of other trusted Christians never created change in this leader. The minute you thought they were changing, it was there in glaring ugliness the lies would come even when speaking in Churches. I don’t know I guess I just thought it was worse. It isn’t, it just feels like it. Lies are lies are lies.
I want to strive to have truth pour from my lips and heart and from those I associate myself with. I am not beyond stretching things at times, and at times I unintentionally have some of my facts wrong, but being around this person has encouraged me to stop stretching things, and to verify facts.
God did not allow me to be in that situation to grow me. Did I grow? “Yes,” but only because I chose to.
Integrity is an important character trait that is still important to most of us. When Trust is no longer in your relationship, whether boss, parent, spouse or friend it becomes difficult to have a healthy relationship without that TRUST and integrity.
One relationship that you can ALWAYS trust is with Our Jesus Christ. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He loves you and cares about you. He and His Word can be trusted. He sent His Son it’s all been done. We can trust Him.
Proverbs 19:1 Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.
Proverbs 11:3 The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.
2 Corinthians 8:21 Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.
